BROADWAY UNDER THE STARS

  • This years theme: Broadway Under the Stars – “It’s All Relative” 
  • Three performances: Fri. Oct. 24th  -8pm, Sat. Oct. 25th  –8pm & Sun. Oct. 26th – 3pm
  • Perform in Auditorium - Audience gets dessert & drink at Fri. & Sat. shows in the quad before the performances
  • ACCENTS Fundraiser for choir scholarships, supplies, etc.
  • Silent Auction in the lobby prior to performances
  • Rehearsals for ENSEMBLE Members: Generally Thurs. 3-6pm, Fri: 2 - 6 p.m., Sat: 9am – 5pm (extra rehearsals TBA)

STUDENT PARTICIPATION:

  • Ensemble Members - by audition only (costume fee of approx. $75 - $100)
  • Choir members - mandatory performance for each class
  • Technical crew - volunteer positions
  • Hostesses - selected students
  • Outfits:  black pants & B’Way t-shirt.  Choir will also help to costume their medley.
  • Choreographers

AUDITIONS:

  • Anyone in the school can audition
  • Friday, August 15th - 2:15 - 7:00 p.m. – Stage & choir room
  • Students must be able to be there the whole time.
  • Sing: with piano accompaniment which will be provided for a $1 fee. Memorization is necessary.
  • If you are selected you will be required to attend rehearsals for about seven weeks.

Parent Committees

Costumes/Sewing:  VERY IMPORTANT!!!  We desperately need parents who can help sew costumes and costume pieces.  You do not have to be an expert and costumes are usually very basic.  We also need volunteers to shop for material, small props and odds and ends to go with costumes.  This is a fund-raiser so we need good bargain hunters and people who are good at getting donations and things for free!

Refreshments:  Parents need to organize donations of pie and cake for the show.  These people also help to organize the kitchen, making of drinks, tableware, carafes, trays etc.

Silent Auction:  This is one of our largest money-makers so we need some gung-ho people to go out there and get great donations for the auction.  The more you get and the better the stuff is, the more money we make for the students.  You basically write letters and get donations from local businesses and then help set up and take down the auction on the performance weekend.

Tickets:  We have a chair person for ticket sales, but they will need help with distributing tickets and running the ticket booth on the performance weekend for the last minute audience members who haven’t purchased tickets yet.

Publicity:  Another committee that desperately needs go-getters to really get the word out to the community about Broadway.  We need to be in every newspaper all over the city.  I want everyone to know about this show.  I would love to get a short performance on Good Morning Arizona or a spot on a local radio show.  This show is too good for people not to know about it.

Decorations:  We will need helpers to blow up balloons, make centerpieces, and decorate the gym for the weekend of the performances.

Servers/Hostesses:  This person heads up organizing students to serve the refreshments and helps to train the hostesses to seat people etc.  This person also will need to assign servers to each table to be sure they are all covered at each performance.

REMEMBER:  WE CANNOT DO THIS SHOW WITHOUT YOUR HELP.  IF THESE COMMITTEES ARE NOT FULL AND THE TASKS ARE NOT DONE, THEN THIS SHOW DOESN’T HAPPEN.  I EXPECT AND HOPE EVERY PARENT TO ASSIST IN SOME SMALL WAY.  WE CAN ALL DO SOMETHING.  THANKS YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE.
