This year’s Broadway Under the Stars Show will be a 10 Year Reunion Show featuring a look back at the shows over the past ten years.  We are inviting all alumni to come back and perform in the Horizon Stage one more time.  Here’s how it will work.

Broadway Under the Stars 2009 – Ten Year Reunion
October 15th, 16th, 17th & 18th

The Alumni students will be performing one song and Sloan Bayer will be choreographing the number.  Early in the summer, she will video tape herself teaching the choreography to the song and she will post a video on our web-site so that Alumni members can watch and learn on their own. 

We will also put the music on the web-site to the Finale so that all alumni students can join in singing the finale.

Performances & Rehearsals:
Sat. Aug. 1st – We will hold a rehearsal at Horizon with any alumni students who can be there.  Sloan will be on hand to teach choreography and more details will be given about performance at that time.  If you cannot make it to this rehearsal, that’s okay, but if you can, it will be a huge help.

Wed. Oct. 14th – Dress Rehearsal 6-9:30pm
Thurs. Oct. 15th – Performance #1 – 7:30pm
Fri. Oct. 16th – Performance #2 – 7:30pm
Sat. Oct. 17th – Performance #3 – 7:30pm
Sun. Oct. 18th – Performance #4 – 3:00pm

If you can make it to ALL of the shows, GREAT!  If you can only make it to one or two, that’s okay.  We just need an RSVP from each Alumni who wants to participate and you need to specifically tell us which performances you will be a part of.

Costumes:
We will order a t-shirt for each former student that will say “Class of ____” (whenever you graduated).  You will just wear that t-shirt and blue jeans for your performance.

If you were a part of the Horizon Choir program between 2000-2009, and would like to participate in the alumni show, you must send Mrs. Kouns an e-mail message confirming your name (include your maiden name if you’re now married), your graduating class, and which rehearsals and performance you can commit to being a part of.  E-mail Mrs. Kouns by Aug 1st, 2009 at huma2n@cox.net or kkouns@pvschools.net

Video Interviews with Alumni:

In addition to inviting alumni to perform, we are also looking for volunteers to submit video taped interviews of yourself talking about some of your favorite Broadway Under the Stars memories.  We’ll be using these video interviews in between numbers of the show and they will be mixed in with video clips from the various Broadway Productions from the past 10 years.  If you can make your own video and either mail it to Mrs. Kouns or e-mail it to us, that’s great.  If you still live here in Phoenix, we can set up a time over the summer for you to go see Jon Minott with Allied Video for him to tape your interview.  Here are the basic questions that you should answer in your interview:

  • Tell us about your favorite performance when you were in Broadway Under the Stars
  • Which choir were you in?
  • Were you in Ensemble?
  • What year did you graduate?
  • We need some people to specifically talk about their experience in the various choirs (Beginning Women, Beginning Men, Women’s Elite (Adv. Women), Show Divas, Vocal-Ease, Step On Stage, Towne Criers, & Ensemble)
  • What are you doing now?  (married, kids, jobs, college, still singing?)
  • How did being a part of the Horizon Choir program impact your life and how has music remained a part of your life today?
  • Funny stories from when you were performing…etc.
